A message came to me this morning... I woke up "late". As someone who is a true advocate for honoring your natural alarm clock. This is a different season for me. However, I asked the universe for more discipline, and it came in the form of 5 AM wake ups, with daily, hour+ long yoga sessions. Today, the universe needed me to learn a new lesson. Breastfeeding on demand (and all through the night) takes a lot from your body and after waking up at 5 AM every day the last two weeks, I was tired. I was so sore from working out yesterday, for two hours, that I guess, my body told me it needed the extra rest. I slept through my alarm, through the sunrise and through 5 AM and 6. My body gently nudged me awake around 6:12 and for that, I am grateful. Initially, my first thought was to panic. I can't lie, my initial reaction was panic. I felt the anxiety coming on, quickly. How could I possibly get done a 75 minute yoga session, make breakfast, lunch, breastfeed and get to the workshop in time to greet our employee, Quadeer (ya'll will meet him and everyone else, soon)? The answer was simple, I couldn't. I started to be very hard on myself. You were supposed to stay committed. By any means necessary. You were supposed to work out and meditate, daily, consecutively, for 108 days, minimum. Then it hit me. It's not about the end result. It's not about doing 108, 306 or 720 days of yoga. It's about the journey. It's about pushing my limits, gaining strength, growing disciplined, learning patience, and living in love. It was about being gentle with myself and knowing when and how to listen when my body was telling me it needed a break. 

So, today, I share the message with you. It's okay to take a break. It's okay to slow down and enjoy the journey. It's okay to focus on how you feel RIGHT NOW vs how and when you'll accomplish the goal. It's okay to take it day by day. It's okay. Be gentle with yourself. A healthy, loved, well nourished you, now, makes for a way better you in the long run. Slow and steady wins the race. Keep growing. Don't push yourself so hard to the point that you break. Gentle movements, gentle stretches, gentle loving. It's okay to work hard, but know when your body is tired. Know when to listen. Know when to stop and be still. Know, because this body is holding you. And YOU deserve it.
